5 Reasons To Visit Egypt in 2022
(PS. #2 IS OUR FAVOURITE!)
Travelling to Egypt is genuinely a once-in-a-lifetime experience and there are so many reasons why you should visit the Land of the Pharaohs! I mean, who doesn’t want to see the Great Pyramids?
However, 2022 is gearing up to be a spectacular year in Egypt and we’re going to give you five amazing reasons why you should book an Egypt tour in 2022.
#1: 100-year anniversary of the discovery of King Tut’s Tomb
Way back in November 1922, the tomb of one of Egypt’s greatest rulers who died at a young age was discovered by Howard Carter. It took weeks to finally unearth the full tomb of the Boy King, and to finally get to explore its burial chambers, where a solid gold coffin and a number of other spectacular treasures were found.
You can be sure that Egypt will be celebrating this magnificent find in a big way, so be sure to make sure you have your passport ready for the biggest party of the year!
#2: The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum
The heavily-delayed but much anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum is finally set to welcome travellers in 2022!
Egypt tourism has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, but with travel now looking set to return to a country which relies so much on tourism, Egyptian authorities will definitely be looking to open it to the world as soon as possible!
No official date has been confirmed yet, but you can be sure that it will most definitely be one of the main highlights of any trip to Egypt.
#3: International flights to Egypt are back!
As the world begins to learn how to live with the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination programs around the world continue their upward trajectories, international flights to Egypt from the United States of America & the United Kingdom are commencing!
EgyptAir has already started operating flights from Heathrow in the UK to Cairo. United Airlines in the US have also scheduled flights to the Egyptian capital in 2022.
#4: The Avenue of the Sphinxes have been restored
It’s not only the Grand Egyptian Museum that’s welcoming new visitors in 2022, the iconic Avenue of the Sphinxes in Luxor was reopened to the public in November 2021 after a multi-million restoration project.
The Avenue of the Sphinxes links both the Karnak & Luxor Temple and takes adventurers back in time as they meander down the ancient pathway. Will you be one of the first travellers to venture down it in 2022?
#5: Sun-kissed beaches are back!
If you’re aren’t too phased about museums and ancient tombs, Egypt is also home to some of the most luxurious beaches on the planet, most notably at Sharm-el-Sheikh and at the Red Sea resort town of Hurghada, which are now open for travel.
Take full advantage of the assortment of watersports available here, visit the water parks or leisurely amble around the Old Town and marina. The choice is yours!
